If we look at the nearest future, I see Oilseeds Trade as a Baltic agricultural group in five years. I think that by that moment we will have some market share in the Baltic States that we could consider significant. This means that we hope that we will still be strong players at the market in five years and that through contributing to the growth of the company. Speaking of the working environment, we have made many investments to our development during that time, and I would like to hope that our employees are proud that they work in Oilseeds group.
In my mind’s eye the Estonian market will be more evenly distributed in the perspective for five years. Currently, the market has one big and some smaller players, but then the market will be more equally distributed between two-three players of the field, one of which Oilseeds Trade naturally wants to be.
We surely would like to continue the social side of our activities in the coming years – with the work that we are currently doing with farmers. Namely, each year we organize free seminars for farmers in various regions of Estonia, we teach them and bring them up-to-date with innovations. We would like to see that the farmers become stronger and more independent. We will surely continue helping the farmers in obtaining credit for financing the sowing, although they could become more independent and bring their financial relations with the banks in order on their own. At the moment the market works so that the farmer who buys equipment sells its harvest back to the same equipment seller later. However, this makes our business more difficult because we get our money back only in the autumn after the harvest. On the other hand, of course, it is difficult for the farmers, because they ate too much connected to one intermediary and are not free in selling their produce. I think that a situation like this will change when the farmers become more independent and stronger.Veikko Vahar
In business I rely on strong control principle, because I come from a relatively bureaucratic background. In our business, the sums are big and we have to be strict in this respect.
